July 22 at 5pm ET with Charlotte Trecartin, CharCharms

Charlotte Trecartin, founder of CharCharms, is joining our group chat for a live Q&A call next month. She started a business making Stanley cup charms in her parents’ garage and profitably bootstrapped to $6.5 million in annual revenue. Today the brand’s been on Shark Tank and stocked in Target and Dick’s Sporting Goods. Come ask her all about it, business besties.

On the show this week: Deepica Mutyala built Ulta's fastest-growing makeup brand

Live Tinted founder Deepica Mutyala is on the Female Founder World show with Jasmine Garnsworthy. Deepica went viral in 2015 (way before going viral was a common thing) for a beauty hack, which landed her a gig on the Today Show. She quit her job and went all in as a beauty influencer, three years later launching the color cosmetics brand she always wished existed, Live Tinted.

Live Tinted has grown 174% year over year, raised $15M, is one of the fastest growing brands in Ulta, and sells one skin tint every three minutes.

Available on Spotify, Apple Podcasts, YouTube, and wherever you get podcasts.

Y COMBINATOR WISHLIST: Y Combinator, the iconic accelerator behind businesses like Airbnb, Doordash, and Reddit, shared their “wishlist” of business ideas they want to fund.

HUDA BEAUTY: Huda Beauty founder Huda Kattan purchased back her equity stake from their private equity partners, now owning 100% of the business.

BEAUTY SLOWDOWN: Beauty’s four biggest companies are all experiencing a slowdown. Coty says lower orders from retailers are the cause, E.l.f Beauty says it's caused by weak sales in January because customers stocked up over the holidays, and others blame the temporary TikTok ban, LA fires, or a lack of innovation in their brands.

CALL HER ALEX: Call Her Daddy and Unwell founder Alex Cooper is hitting streaming with a two part Hulu series, “Call Her Alex”.

ALI WEBB’S NEW BIZ: Alli Webb, the iconic founder of Drybar, is back with a new haircare line, Messy, hitting Sephora this month.

FORBES WOMEN: Forbes’ richest self-made women list dropped for the year. It’s so interesting seeing all the industries where these women make their billions—like trucking, aerospace and building supplies.

BEAUTYCOUNTER’S BACK: Beautycounter, the beauty label that was repurchased by the founder out of foreclosure, is relaunching later as Counter.

ULTA’S CREATOR STRATEGY: Ulta is paying their store employees to make TikTok videos on the products they sell. This creator broke down how leveraging your employees might be the genius social media strategy you’re skipping.

Rachael Wilde, the founder of tbh. Skincare just launched her new haircare brand, Bouf. She’s sharing all the BTS on her socials and we wanted to quickly breakdown some key insights from the launch:

  • Brand agency: Willow and Blake (read more about the brand strategy here).

  • PR agency: Hive HQ

  • Launched with influencer Indie Clinton as an ambassador

  • Total launch week orders: 5,487 orders

  • Total units sold in launh week: 19,000+ units sold

  • Launch week revenue: $500K+ in revenue.
